Jim and Sharon Prochaska-We have been enjoying the beauty of daylily flowers since the 1980's. The daylily plants are easy to care for AND they reward us with colorful blooms! After 2000 we moved and took the original 6 daylily plants with us. We discovered newer creations and added them to our proven(older) daylilies. One year we collected bee pollinated seeds and planted them. We were hooked on hybridizing! Our first introduction was 'Julie Robinson'. Since we can't take credit for hybridizing it, we decided to give the proceeds from the sales of "Julie Robinson' to The American Cancer Society in honor of a close friend who struggled with cancer. Now we, including our son, Doug, do the hybridizing. We work with UFs, Spiders, and Round Forms in Tetraploids and Diploids. We create between 4,000 to 9,000 seeds every year. We have to date introduced 55 daylilies so we are very selective with our introductions. They must be unique, perform well and produce attractive blooms in our zone 4 climate.
